# Commerce Engine Portal User Guide Introduction

Commerce Engine is a cloud-based subscription management platform component providing a comprehensive billing and recurring payment solution. It delivers the power, flexibility, and speed that you need to win in today's subscription-based economy. It features scalable integrated marketing best practices to support the entire subscription lifecycle, allowing you to acquire and retain subscribers and their associated recurring revenue and overcome the drawbacks of traditional billing approaches.

Commerce Engine is a component of MarketONE, the cloud-based platform.

Commerce Engine has the following interfaces:

* **Commerce Engine API:** this API enables Resellers (Service Providers) to link their data and customized interfaces to Commerce Engine from their online store, as well as from their customer support, customer self service, financial, and business applications.

## Who is Commerce Engine For?

Commerce Engine is designed for eCommerce Resellers (Service Providers) at any stage of their business journey—whether they are launching, scaling, or leading their market. It supports Resellers who need to manage subscription-based offerings or one-time payment models, providing a comprehensive billing and payment component as part of the overall MarketONE solution. This component is ideal for Resellers looking to support their users' end-to-end lifecycle, from acquisition and user profiling to recurring billing, by leveraging cloud-based technology.
