# Cancel a Subscription

You can cancel a subscription using the portal. Typically this is done in response to a customer service call.

To cancel a subscription:

1. Access the subscription from **Billing** > **Subscriptions**.

2. Click **Cancel Subscription** in the **Actions** Panel.

The Cancel Subscription dialog box appears.

3. Define the fields as needed. Refer to the table below for guidance regarding the fields.

4.

| Field | Guidance | Relevancy |
| - | - | - |
| **Disentitle Immediately** | Toggle **Yes** or **No**. Toggle **Yes** to cancel the related entitlements immediately. Otherwise, the entitlements continue through the end-date, as determined by the last successful billing for this subscription. Default value is **No**. | Optional |
| **Force** | Toggle **Yes** or **No**. Toggle **Yes** to cancel the subscription, even when the minimum commitment period for the subscription has not been satisfied. Default value is **No**. | Optional |
| **Settle** | Toggle **Yes** or **No**. Toggle **Yes** to settle the subscription when it is canceled by either refunding the customer for a portion of the prepaid use that will no longer be available, or by charging for non-recurring-charges that the customer has not yet paid. When set to **No** the charges remaining on the subscription are not changed, and are carried forward in the subscription balance. How the subscription is settled will be reflected by the **transactions**/**refunds**included in the output. Default value is **No**. | Optional |
| **Send Cancel Notice** | Toggle **Yes** or **No**. Toggle **Yes** to send a cancellation email. When set to No, no cancellation email is sent. Default value is **No**. | Optional |
| **Reason Code** | Select a reason code from the dropdown box. Cancel reason codes include a set of generic Reseller (Service Provider) reasons which can be used, or it is possible to define and use custom cancel reason codes. | Optional |

5. Click **Cancel Subscription**.

The subscription is canceled or transferred to a pending canceled status according to the defined parameters.

**Note:** A subscription in Pending Cancel state can undergo an additional cancel process in order to disentitle (and cancel) it immediately.
