# Activation

In the **Activation** space, you can configure a variety of settings that relate to subscription activation.

You can easily manage redemption URLs and choose if you want Partner Ecosystem Management or your system to generate redemption codes. If you have chosen for Partner Ecosystem Management to generate redemption codes, you can set the expiration time for the codes.

You can also display to Resellers (Service Providers) whether you support pausing and resuming product entitlements.

**Note:** These settings are only available to Merchants using the [Platform-managed](g_platformManagedFlow) product lifecycle.

## Redemption URLs

Redemption URLs allow customers to redeem subscription products that have been provisioned to them. It's necessary to add redemption URLs in Partner Ecosystem Management.

In Partner Ecosystem Management, you can create:

* A default redemption URL for all of your products
* Redemption URLs for specific products
* Redemption URLs for specific Reseller(s)
* Redemption URLs for a combination of products and Resellers

For more information, see [Manage Activation Settings](r_redemptionURLsManage).

## Redemption Codes

Easily choose whether to provide redemption codes for customers by turning the **Merchant will provide the redemption code for activation** toggle on or off in **Advanced Activation Settings**. The toggle is off by default, meaning Partner Ecosystem Management automatically generates redemption codes for customers.

When the **Merchant will provide the redemption code for activation** toggle is turned off, Partner Ecosystem Management can optionally include redemption codes with the redemption URLs that are sent to customers. This gives customers a more seamless activation experience.

**Note:** If you want Partner Ecosystem Management to generate the redemption code and send the code along with the redemption URL, you need to create a redemption URL and include "@xxx@" in the redemption URL. For example: **[https://www.example.com/@xxx@/activate](https://www.example.com/@xxx@/activate)**. You must also ensure the **Merchant will provide the redemption code for activation** toggle is turned off.

If the **Merchant will provide the redemption code for activation** setting is off, you can configure the expiration time for redemption codes for Platform-managed products. The expiration time can be set in minutes. If the expiration time isn't set, the redemption codes for Platform-managed products won't expire.

## Customer Activation Process for Platform-Managed Products

After a customer purchases a subscription from a Reseller’s (Service Provider’s) storefront, the customer automatically receives the redemption link. The Reseller also sends the customer a redemption code generated by Partner Ecosystem Management. The customer clicks the redemption link and then enters the redemption code. This activates their subscription.

## Pause & Resume

You can easily show Resellers (Service Providers) whether you support the ability to pause and resume product entitlements in Partner Ecosystem Management. This is important information for Resellers who want to pause and resume product entitlements. Resellers may want to pause and resume product entitlements for various reasons, such as preventing a subscription cancellation when a payment isn't made by a customer.

To show you support the ability to pause and resume, toggle **Products support the ability to be paused and resumed** to the right in **Advanced Activation Settings**.

This setting is turned off by default.
