Partner Ecosystem Management is a multi-tenant SaaS platform that is built upon cloud-native services and hosting through AWS. Merchants and Resellers (Service Providers) can integrate with Partner Ecosystem Management to resell or bill their products. Partner Ecosystem Management abstracts away the dependency from Merchants and Resellers to build and maintain individual connections. For example, Partner Ecosystem Management supports integrations between Merchants and Resellers for product publishing. Integrations also support transaction flows to ordering and billing systems. Partner Ecosystem Management is also responsible for keeping the integration with the Merchant current: if the integration changes, Partner Ecosystem Management maintains the integration without impacting the Reseller’s catalog, ordering, and billing systems. In turn, Partner Ecosystem Management provides Resellers (Service Providers) with the ability to create and manage agreements and settlements, to perform service provisioning, and to execute payment integration.

Promotion and Certification in Partner Ecosystem Management

Merchants have the ability to advertise their presence to Resellers (Service Providers) in Partner Ecosystem Management while going through certification. Once a Merchant completes onboarding and certification, the certification icon appears on their profile. Any Merchant can enter into partnerships with Resellers. However, only certified Merchants can activate API keys and resell products.

Agreements

Partner Ecosystem Management makes it easy for Resellers (Service Providers) to manage agreement proposals with Merchants. In the UI, Resellers can easily create and send agreements to Merchants. Partner Ecosystem Management carries out the terms of the agreement and provides reporting, allowing both organizations to access a single source of settlement data. For example, a Reseller and a Merchant could make an agreement for a Merchant’s product and arrange for the Merchant to receive a fixed amount for the settlement terms. As a part of the agreement, the Merchant’s settlement for each purchase and renewal could be set to a fixed amount of five dollars. Partner Ecosystem Management manages settlement processing for all parties involved in the transaction. For a record of settlements, Resellers and Merchants can consult Partner Ecosystem Management’s Settlement Report. To learn more about agreements, see Agreements and Settlements.

Service Provisioning

Partner Ecosystem Management plays a key role in managing service provisioning flows. Consider the following example of service provisioning using the primary business case, the Platform-managed product lifecycle. In this type of product lifecycle, the Reseller resells the Merchant’s product.
  1. A user purchases a streaming service through a Reseller’s (Service Provider’s) storefront.
  2. If the user purchasing the subscription is already a customer of the Reseller (Service Provider), Partner Ecosystem Management can take that user request and send the user information to the Merchant’s streaming service.
  3. At this point the Merchant may either create the user with the same user credentials, or it may send an email to the user based on these user credentials. This email could welcome the user to the streaming service family, inform them that the Merchant knows they bought the service through the Reseller’s (Service Provider’s) store, and instruct them to click a button in the body of the email to create their username and password.
In order to support this integration, the Merchant needs to expose a provisioning API.

Subscription Lifecycle Integration

Partner Ecosystem Management is part of the overall sequence for a customer purchasing a subscription. Partner Ecosystem Management supports the following options:
  • Subscription lifecycle events managed directly by the Merchant to Partner Ecosystem Management (Merchant-managed) -Or-
  • Subscription lifecycle events managed directly by the Partner Ecosystem Management platform on behalf of the Reseller (Platform-managed).
Transaction results will indicate what product was purchased to properly bill the customer. Subscriptions are always billed through the Reseller (Service Provider) with the payment methods they offer.

Settlements

Partner Ecosystem Management lets you decide whether to let Partner Ecosystem Management manage settlements or use your own external settlement solution. Partner Ecosystem Management manages settlements between Resellers (Service Providers) and Merchants when a settlement model is enabled and defined in an agreement. Settlements are calculated based on the settlement type and values. The available settlement types are Revenue Share and Fixed Amount. Either a percentage or fixed amount is paid out to the Merchant. To learn more about settlements, see Agreements and Settlements. Partner Ecosystem Management also provides Settlement Reports, allowing Resellers and Merchants to view amounts owed to Merchants from a single source.

External Billing, Catalog, and Order Management Systems Integration

As an enablement platform, Partner Ecosystem Management centralizes connections between Merchants and multiple Resellers’ (Service Providers’) external billing, catalog, and order management systems. Serving as an orchestrator, Partner Ecosystem Management routes requests between Resellers and Merchants, facilitating eligibility, billing charges, subscription entitlement management, product and subscription lifecycle changes, and more.

Integration APIs

When it comes to Merchants and Resellers (Service Providers), the only system they need to communicate with is Partner Ecosystem Management. They only need to integrate once. Partner Ecosystem Management internally routes requests from Merchants directly to the Reseller’s (Service Provider’s) back end, and then sends them to Partner Ecosystem Management for orchestration. This means that a Merchant does not need to talk to the Reseller’s (Service Provider’s) billing system directly. The advantage is Partner Ecosystem Management has built integrations with many major tier 1 Merchants, which can be used by Resellers (Service Providers) with minimal setup and verification testing on their end. To accomplish this, Partner Ecosystem Management has a set of public APIs. This set of integration APIs are used by Merchants to onboard onto the platform for standard integrations. For service provisioning and Reseller (Service Provider) billing, Partner Ecosystem Management integrates into the back end systems through Partner Ecosystem Management directly or through Partner Ecosystem Management Connect, depending on the desired integration model and supported use case requirements. These predefined APIs are documented in the Knowledge Center. If Merchants want to be part of the Partner Ecosystem Management ecosystem, these APIs will be used to integrate into their back end systems. In most cases, these APIs are mandatory.
