MarketONE API Types: Request-Driven and Event-Driven

MarketONE provides the following types of APIs to Merchants:

• REST APIs (MarketONE OpenAPIs): request-driven APIs
• Webhooks (OTT Service Callbacks): event-driven APIs

About REST

Representational State Transfer (REST) architectures allow the client (or software on a user’s computer) and the server to communicate.

1. To get access to a resource, the client sends a request to the server
2. The server sends a response with encoded data about the resource.

About Webhooks

With an event-driven system, the client (or software on a user’s computer) doesn’t need to send requests. All that’s needed is the initial setup of the webhook.
