Commerce Engine Account general lifecycle:
  1. Define where initial customer information is gathered. Most often, Customers’ sign up data is collected through the customer registration flow from your online store or app and stored in an Identity management or Customer Management system.
  2. Sync the customer details to Commerce Engine via API. Customer’s details are stored as a Commerce Engine account. Make sure to use Account ID and/or External Account ID as the linked identifier to your Reseller (Service Provider) systems.
  3. When providing the customer payment method, it is held in the account and is available for purchases of subscriptions or single transactions. For compliance, payment data displayed in the Portal is masked when required.
  4. Keep personalized customer details in the form of custom data Name:Value pairs.
  5. Create new subscriptions for your customers. Subscriptions are created for an account and consist of one billing plan, one or more products (called subscription items) and the payment method used to charge the subscription.
  6. Commerce Engine supports family units by supporting parent and children accounts. A parent account can have multiple child accounts but a child account can have only one parent. The parent account can pay for the children’s subscriptions. For more details, refer to Accounts or Add Child to the Account.
  7. Commerce Engine is fully committed to GDPR compliance. Super User role holders can access a customer’s account, for which deletion was requested by the customer, and delete it. This process can’t be undone. For more details, refer to Account GDPR Erase.
  8. Track Events for your customers using the Event History report as part of the Insights menu.
